CLIENT: Channel 4
BRIEF: To provide an invitation and posters for the 2004 Channel 4 Christmas Party. The event was to be held at CIRQUE (previously the Hippodrome, in London's Leicester Square). It was decided to theme the party in the style of a dark, sinister Victorian circus. I researched the subject extensively, experimented with photographs and daguerrotypes, and eventually tracked down an out-of-print book of circus woodcuts. These formed the central theme, and a distressed wood texture was used to emulate the painted wooden clapperboards used in early circus advertising.
